Almog Ben Yaacov is a recognized specialist in gastrointestinal cancers with a reputation that extends beyond the borders of his native country. Under the guidance of the eminent Professor Aviram Nissan, he has performed more than 200 intra-abdominal HIPEC chemotherapy procedures, indicated in the spread of malignant tumors through the peritoneal tissues. Almog Ben Jaakvoa’s main professional interest is performing combined procedures for resection of the primary tumor and destruction of intraperitoneal metastases by CRS + HIPEC. The doctor performs complex operations on the esophagus, stomach, duodenum and colon. He also handles excision of sarcomas, the most aggressive malignant tumors of internal organs and soft tissues.

Almog Ben Yaacov is constantly working to modernize and optimize the field of oncologic surgery. He performs experimental procedures, participates in working groups on innovative tumor control techniques, and writes articles and scientific publications. He is regularly invited to represent Israel at international congresses and conferences on relevant topics in general and cancer surgery.

Education and specialties: 
Almog Ben Yaacov graduated with honors from Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary, in 2006. He has been a flight surgeon since 2009. He completed his internship and residency at the Department of Cardiac Surgery at Sheeba Medical Center. He trained at the Department of Life Support and Trauma Rehabilitation at Montefiore Hospital, Albert Einstein Campus (New York). Advanced training in stereotactic radiosurgery (nano-knife) at King’s College London. Completed the ESSO HIPEC course in Hamburg. Studied radiofrequency current ablation of liver tumors in Reims. Advanced training in surgical oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York in 2019. He holds a doctorate in medical science.

With extensive international experience, Almog Ben Yaacov is actively researching the surgical removal of cancerous tumors. He also supervises the training of young specialists from Israel and abroad. He is currently the leading surgical oncologist in Sheba.
